Amylase is a digestive enzeme (sp) located in our bodies and when this becomes elevated you get pancreatic pains. This is what they are treating my husband for...acute pancreatitis.
When the amylase levels come down then he can eat, and they come down very slowly so it might be a few days.
Tomorrow they are going to do a test to see if his gallbladder is working, and if it isn't, they will probably do surgery.
It's funny, even though he is starving, he is watching the food network and just dreaming about eating.
Thanks for all the positive thoughts, send some to keep me sane, I feel like I am sinking in my emotions.

Take care of yourself so you can take care of your family. My thoughts and prayers are with you. I had my gallbladder out when I was a young single parent about 10 years ago today. best thing I ever did. melissa
